Also known as brassiere, a bra is that part of clothing which supports a female’s breasts. It may fully cover the breasts and in some cases, elevate too. There are many reasons to wear a bra. Probably because of this, one can easily find a huge variety of shapes, styles, designs, patters, colors and even material in bras.

The basic design of bra consists of 2 cups that hold woman’s breasts, central panel to hold both cups together, a band that goes around torso and has hook fasteners at the back and shoulder straps. Not every bra has straps however. Such bras may be used when a woman wishes to wear strapless or shoulder-less dresses.

To cater to the needs of every woman, knowing they are different from each other, there are many additional things added to this basic design for more features. To add to the comfort lever, bras are made up of huge range of cloth material including cotton and satin etc.

Some common reasons for using a bra can be support, or improvement/enhancements in breasts’ shape or size and also to curb the movement of breasts when a female is involved in some vigorous activity. Another one may be cleavage enhancement. Not every bra is made to provide every above-stated feature. However, one can choose a bra as per her choice and needs.
